About the Grant

Gamified Learning Initiative

The Gamified Learning Initiative aims to support innovative educators in Cameroon who are dedicated to transforming traditional teaching methods through game-based, project-oriented approaches. This initiative recognises that engaging, interactive learning experiences significantly improve student outcomes in science and mathematics as well as other academic disciplines, while developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for the 21st century.

Grant Details

Key Information

  • Grant Amount: 200,000 - 500,000 CFA per project

  • Implementation Period: 6-12 months (2026 academic year)

  • Total Programme Duration: 18 months (including evaluation and dissemination)

  • Number of Grants: 2 awards

  • Application opens: 1st September, 2025

  • Application Deadline: 30th September, 2025

 

Eligible Institutions 

  • Dully registered public and private primary schools, secondary schools (general and technical)

  • Vocational training institutes

 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant Qualification

  • Primary Applicant: Must be a certified teacher or educator currently teaching in Cameroon

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in science, mathematics, or related subjects

  • Language: Proposals accepted in English

  • Collaboration: Multi-teacher applications (between 2-4)

  • Institutional Support: Written endorsement from school administration required

Project Requirement

Mandatory Components 

1. Gamification Element

Projects must incorporate collaborative competition (Team-based problem-solving challenges) with  at least THREE of the following:

  • Point Systems: Achievement-based scoring mechanisms

  • Challenges & Quests: Sequential learning objectives presented as missions

  • Badges & Rewards: Recognition systems for student accomplishments

  • Leaderboards: Healthy competition elements (individual or team-based)

  • Storytelling: Narrative frameworks that contextualize learning

  • Role-Playing: Student adoption of scientist, mathematician, or professional roles

  • Simulation Games: Real-world scenario modeling

 

2. Project-based Learning Structure 

  • Real-World Connection: Projects must address authentic community or societal challenges

  • Student Agency: Learners have a choice in project direction and methodology

  • Inquiry-Driven: Students formulate questions and hypotheses

  • Extended Timeline: Projects span multiple weeks or months

  • Public Product: Students create presentations, reports, or solutions for authentic audiences

  • Reflection Component: Built-in opportunities for metacognitive thinking

 

3. Integration Requirements

  • Multiple curricular unit coverage: The game must incorporate curriculum content of at least 3-5 units 

  • Cross-Curricular Links: Connect science and numeracy concepts meaningfully

  • Technology Integration: Appropriate use of available technology (mobile phones, computers, basic equipment). Not A MUST*

  • Community Engagement: Involve parents, local experts, or community members

  • Assessment Innovation: The  game should move beyond traditional testing to performance-based evaluation

1. Project Proposal  (Maximum 8 pages)

Section A: Executive Summary (1 page)

  • Project title and brief description of the game

  • Target student population and numbers

  • Key innovation elements of the game and how to play the game 

  • Expected outcomes mapped to the national curriculum

 

Section B: Project Description (3-4 pages)

  • Detailed implementation plan

  • Gamification strategy

  • Project-based learning framework

  • Timeline and milestones

  • Student roles and responsibilities

 

Section C: Educational Rationale (1-2 pages)

  • Learning objectives alignment with the curriculum

  • Theoretical foundation

  • Assessment and evaluation plan

  • Expected student learning outcomes

 

Section D: Implementation Strategy (1-2 pages)

  • Resource requirements and budget justification

  • Risk management and contingency plans

  • Sustainability and scaling strategy

  • Community engagement approach

 

2. Budget Proposal (Maximum 2 pages)

  • Detailed line-item budget with justifications- you can request from 200.000 -500.000CFa

  • Cost categories: materials, equipment, training, transportation, communication

  • In-kind contributions from the school/community

  • Budget narrative explaining major expenses

 

3. Supporting Documents

  • Curriculum Vitae: Primary applicant and team members

  • Letter of Support: School principal/director endorsement

 

4. Supplementary Materials  (Optional)

  • Sample lesson plans or activity descriptions

  • Student work samples (if applicable)

  • Previous project documentation

  • Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Technical difficulties should be reported immediately to the program office.
